Community College of Allegheny County will be hosting an Alice workshop for interested computer programming instructors. This workshop will explore the Alice 2.2 and Alice 3.0 programming environments as an effective and engaging tool to introduce students to the concepts of computer programming.  The workshop will run from 8:30 am-4:30pm, July 25-29 (Monday-Friday).  On Friday the workshop begins at 8:30 and ends at 12:30pm. There will be a light breakfast, afternoon snacks, and beverages provided. Parking is free.  Thanks to our National Science Foundation grant, there is no charge for the workshop.  

This is a hands-on workshop. This workshop is for teachers who have some computer teaching experience.  Teachers are expected to attend all 5 days, and participate in small programming assignments. The workshop will cover: programming basics in Alice and Java. These include loops, conditionals, objects and classes, methods, parameters and more. The workshop will use a variety of activities to help you understand these concepts: lecture, role-playing, and small programming assignments. There will be computers available for participants to work from with Alice already installed. 

All workshop materials will be provided. Thanks to our National Science Foundation grants there is no fee for this workshop.
